Greek Salad with Sfakian Carob Rusk

Instructions

Greek salad, or Horiatiki Salata (meaning “village salad”), is a simple yet vibrant dish that reflects the essence of Greek cuisine. Traditionally, it’s made with fresh vegetables and ingredients straight from the garden, such as tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, and onions. Topped with olives, oregano, and olive oil, this rustic salad captures the flavors of the Mediterranean in every bite. Perfect as a side dish or a light meal, it’s a timeless favorite!

1. Prepare the Vegetables:

Combine the tomatoes, cucumber, bell pepper, and onion in a large salad bowl.

2. Add the Olives and Rusk:

Toss in the Kalamata olives and scatter the Sfakian carob rusk chunks over the salad.

3. Dress the Salad:

Drizzle with the extra virgin olive oil  and balsamic vinegar. Sprinkle with oregano. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.

4. Serve:

Let the salad sit for 5–10 minutes to allow the rusk to soften slightly. Serve immediately and enjoy the fresh, authentic flavors of Greece!
