Ntourountous

Ntouroundous started their journey in 2008, always putting in their recipes the secrets, the sweet look, and the affection of Grandma Anna. Their grandmother Anna, coming from the gorge of Samaria to get married in Sfakia, brought with her all the secrets of her cooking. She soon shared these secrets with her daughters and daughter-in-law and, in turn, they bequeathed them to their children. 

Naturally, their childhood memories are accompanied by smells, tastes, and aromas that have remained unchanged in their minds. And these are exactly their supplies on a trip that they want to accompany you! 

When something is authentic, quality, and unique in taste, people are quick to appreciate it. 

Having the traditional recipes in hand, they marry the original Sfakia flavors with modern trends. Considering that the original flavors have been lost, it became their vision to create quality, tasty and very healthy products. For raw material the fruits of our blessed place, our Sfakia. They are now charting their own course in the production of traditional and organic Cretan bakery products!  They invite you to join them and explore together the delicious paths of Sfakia and get to know that special part of the tradition of their place. 

In the Ntourountous Bakery, baking begins at dawn. With the first coffee and wearing their beautiful white uniforms, they start to create delicious products and organic pastries. All the secrets of their family are hidden in their  oven, among the flour and all those pure ingredients that they use for the kneading, and they have been carving our course around your table for years. 

The truth is that it is a demanding project and requires a team effort for an excellent result. The people behind their products work every day with endless passion and above all an outstanding sense of love for our tradition, maybe this is the identity they want to give to their pastries, the products that carry their tradition, history and passion. 

They use local ingredients such as Cretan carob, extra virgin olive oil, wholemeal flour and legume flour. With respect for family tradition, an emphasis on the choice of materials, and adherence to modern principles of hygiene and certification, their goal remains to highlight the flavors of their country and region. 

Ntourountous has been awarded three times in a row for the high quality & value of their traditional products and for their contribution to the preservation of the Greek traditional taste with the Gold Award “AUTHENTIC TASTE OF GREECE 2020, 2021, & 2022” from the organization Greek Taste Beyond Borders. 

Moreover, the products of Ntourountous Bakery were certified organic by the Organization of Control and Certification of Biological Products (DIO). Minimal human intervention in agriculture and low environmental footprint are the main characteristics of organic products. The main point is based on the most natural operation of the system, which policy is fully embraced by the Ntourountous Bakery, which offers high-quality products with the fewest interventions!
